Of course, you can include your fur baby in your wedding!

If you consider your pet dog as part of the family and you’d like to include them to your big day, there are several things to consider to ensure everything will be stress-free.

By scouring the web for the best tips and learning from our firsthand experiences, our team has curated the top three tips you must consider if you are planning to have your best furry buddy on your big day.

Check With The Venue If They Allow Dogs
Confirm that your venue allows dogs before you sign a contract. It’s not a good idea to bring your dog on your wedding day and just hope that the venue management won’t mind it. It would be a bigger inconvenience if you were asked to send your dog home just before your wedding.

Ask a Family Member or Friend For Help
As it is your wedding day, it is impossible for you to look after your pet with all the things you have to do on that day. You’ll be extremely busy by then, believe us. Assign a family member or a friend to take care of your fur baby. Moreover, plan out everything beforehand. Arrange a place where your dog will be stationed at different times of the day, and how you will provide them with the bare necessities- food, water, bathroom breaks, etc.

Pro tip:
The best person to assign as your dog’s handler is someone who is already involved in the wedding day, but has a flexible schedule.

Consider Your Dog’s Temperament
Not all dogs are the same. Some may be reactive to strangers and other animals, others might be fearful of new environments, and some might be extra anxious. So if your pet has some temperament issues, it would be best to train them months before the big day; otherwise, you might have to abandon the idea for everyone’s safety.

Pro tip:
Teach your dog how to walk down the aisle. If someone else is walking them, ask that person to allot some time training your pet. Here’s a short video on how to do it.
